Fiona Fouhy
Haze
Haze
Unique original monotype on Somerset paper measuring 29 x 37 cm. It is mounted on a white board measuring 42 x 59.4 cm.
In this artwork Fiona draws us into the trees. The haze of the light shining on air particles in the rain. Interested in rain, Fiona depicts it here in the form of mist in the forest, reflecting how we are continually surrounded by water, literally breathing it in.
The Artist
The Artist
Through Fiona’s deeply atmospheric and evocative original monotypes, we step into the forest. Into the unknown, the wild and a space laden with metaphysical meaning and narrative. An important symbol for Fiona, the forest is both a mysterious, haunting place full of uncertainty and fragility, and a healing, restorative space for the planet and the individual.
In Fiona’s monotype process she utilises rollers, rags and other materials to layer ink upon the plate, using the early ghost layers to create depth and perspective. She draws us deep into the trees with her monotone palette and ethereal, misty mark-making. Based in Walthamstow, Fiona is a tutor at East London Printmakers and studied at Central St Martins.
